Busan is the 2nd largest city and number one trading hub in Korea, with a population of 3.4 million and a total area of 770.17 square kilometers as of 2022. Since opening Korea’s first international port in 1876, the city has become a hub of trade, commerce and industry.
Global events including the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference, Busan International Film Festival and Busan Fireworks Festival, as well as various sea-related festivals are held throughout the year. The city is also a tourist destination and home to Asia’s largest department store, Haeundae beach, and a yacht marina.
Located on the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula, Busan is a historic city that served as the temporary capital during the Korean War and refuge for men, women and children fleeing the North to build new lives.

Summer starts at the end of June and ends in early September. The rainy season starts the end of June and lasts until the beginning of August. Precipitation during the summer months accounts for 50 to 60 percent of the total for the year.
The average temperature in July is 23.9°C and daily temperature ranges are very small at 5.3°C. Summer highs hit their peak at the end of July through mid-August when temperatures climb to 32°C. The city also experiences many tropical nights during this time as night time temperatures hover around 25°C.

Haeundae Beach is one of Korea’s hottest summer destinations, attracting over 10 million visitors every season. Its 1.5 km white sandy beach is lined with many entertaining facilities, attracting men and women of all ages from all parts of the world.
Colorful roofs that seem to touch the sky, A warmth that covers the whole village, here is Gamcheon Culture Village. Refugees settled in Gamcheon Village during the Korean War and cultivated the mountainous region to make a living. In 2009, students, artists, and residents decorated the village as a part of the Village Art Project, and the town grew into a leading tourist attraction of Busan since then.

Above the steep wall of the Jeoryeong Coastal Trail is a unique view of the village, where you can see small houses clustered along the narrow alley formed by the coast at the end of the cliff. This restaurant is indispensable when discussing dwaejigukbap in Busan. It’s differentiated from other gukbap joints by the clear and lean broth. Large chunks of domestic pork are generously served in the soup.
It is a branch of Gaemijip, Busan’s most famous stir-fried octopus chain, but the taste here is just as great as the original. Just as the original store, it serves stir-fried octopus, stir-fried octopus with shrimp, and stir-fried octopus, tripe, and shrimp. All of them are popular.
This place is widely recognized as one of the best spots for milmyeon, mainly for its exceptional taste. It is one of the most famous restaurants among Busan’s many wheat noodle restaurants. They present a distinct type of wheat noodles in beef bone broth. Elsewhere, the meat topping is usually cut by machines, but they are known for hand-pulled thin pieces of brisket.
This raw fish(sashimi) specialty restaurant is near Haeundae Grand Hotel. When you order raw fish, you can enjoy a variety of side dishes such as steamed octopus, sea urchin, abalone, grilled flounder, fried shrimp. Spicy hot pot is served after the meal. Most fish fluctuate according to market prices.
It is one of the most famous tteokbokki joints in Busan. Dariljip is especially known for huge sizes of tteokbokki and fried squid—just one piece is enough to make you full.
This is the oldest bokguk restaurant in the Haeundae area. Bokguk (pufferfish soup) is Busan's representative hangover soup, and a bowl of clear jiri bokguk completely cures a hangover. The spicy bokmaeuntang is also popular, but if you want to enjoy cleantasting pufferfish, the jiri bokguk is recommended.
For over twenty years, this restaurant has been operated by generations of family members. They specialize in braised monkfish and codfish dishes made with fresh and quality ingredients. For braised codfish heads, their unique cooking style adds heaps of onions on top. Both braised fish dishes are popular.
Located near Haeundae Jung-dong Station, this grilled tripe restaurant is especially known for the marinaded and grilled teugyang, stomach chamber 1. At the time of order, the special marinade is brushed on the meat, then the staff provides the grilling service. It has a very tender yet slightly chewy texture.
Located in Bupyeong-dong Jokbal Alley, this is a famous restaurant that is often introduced on TV programs. It is also famous as the birthplace of naengchae jokbal (cold tossed pork hocks), a local delicacy of Busan. The restaurant’s light and chewy jokbal and naengchae jokbal are popular.
This Korean charcoal barbecue restaurant uses only the highest-grade meat and the best raw ingredients. The interior is clean, and the service is nice. The price is high as they serve the highest-grade Korean beef, but with the staff’s grilling service, it’s quite satisfactory.
